Why this 'Short Cuts' thing is a thing is because this:

I read about a project in The Wire magazine where they'd asked 60 different electronica artists to make a 60 second track each & put them all on one hour-long album.

I never heard the album, but can you imagine? It would drive you absolutely mental.

So I made my own version of that, but with songs instead.

I thought it would be a fun project where I could try out loads of ideas, get some practice & roughly bash out a load of weird sketchy wee songs, just for 2 or 3 months probably. It took me about 3 years.

It turned out that it's was a load of slow work making all the tracks sound different from each other, instead of sounding half-finished & croaky like I usually like my songs to sound.

Sometimes I listen & think that they all sound so different that it's just a big mess, then sometimes I listen & think it all sounds the same.

Anyway the main intention was to make something that would be mental to listen to in one sitting. I have listened to it all the way through and I can confirm that it was mental.
